Hey all. Do any JAWS users have any experience with any of the legal music downloading services? Not sure what I am going to do here but I may need a new computer soon and am wondering if they're worthwhile investments. Thanks!

Leaffan, you don't need to invest. ITunes is free, you can download it off the net.

How is accessibility with JAWS and stuff?

I wouldn't know, sorry... I think it might be hard to find that out since iTunes is mostly used with Macs or iPods, neither of which are accessible, so I don't think there are many people out there who use JAWS and iTunes together. Though of course iTunes is quickly becoming popular with PC users, so you might find someone who can tell you.

I highly don't recomend downloading ITunes! My friend got a virus from it. If you want 2 keep your new computer intact, then don't do it.

What? Itunes isn't free, it costs a buck for each song, doesn't it?

Winmx is another good one. It's very accessible, and yes, the sight states that it's virus free.

Winmx is good, yes, but if u read what he said, he is looking for legal means of getting his music. Most of the stuff found on winmx is, well, not so legal. Although, they do have a nice collection of old time radio stuff witch is perfectly legal to download.

Hey,

www.allofmp3.com was recently declared legal by russian authorities. You can buy from it in other countries, as well. It works just fine with jaws, pricing is by the size of the song (I believe it is now 2 cents a meg, so an album might cost a little under a buck). You can get your stuff in mp3 of various bit rates, ogg, wma, etc. Don't bother with itunes; it's worse to uninstall than realplayer, and it runs more background processes.

Thanks for that info. I am also considering Gnucleus, even though I know it is not legal. My Win MX no longer allows me to download; all the downloads simply stay at 0 bps. If anyone can solve this for me, I'll go back to Win MX also! So confusing. LOL

I personally like KazaaKPP. *smile* I know, not exactly legal, but if I really gota...Anyways, ITunes does cost. I don't know how much, but if it didn't cost my husband wouldn't be winning free songs on his bottle caps when he buys a pepsy. I've heard of one called EMusic, and I'm going to be checking it out...It's got a monthly fee I believe.

I have had some experience with I tunes. It is accessible with jaws 5 but you need some patients and getting to know how the program works. Ask any questions you have if you want. And why exactly are you using I tunes. Do you have an I pod?

You don't need to have an iPod to use iTunes, it's just a "jukebox", and it works similarly to Windows MediaPlayer, only better, of course, hehe :-). And Caitlin, it costs a dollar a song to legally download music through the iStore that is linked to iTunes, but iTunes itself only plays the music you have already on your computer, and to do that is free.
